Manuel Ayau, RIP

Manuel Ayau, founding president of Universidad Francisco Marroquin, passed away on August 4. Click here to read the University’s testimonial to his accomplishments.

Manuel Ayau, fondly known as Muso, was a courageous defender of free enterprise and cared enough about his country and the education of its citizens that he founded a university dedicated to studies in Economics, markets and the freedoms that support a free society. It was not always easy. Muso told me that during one period in the history of his country, the President of his country had a torture chamber in the basement of his residence and Muso himself was compelled to travel with bodyguards. A delightful man of erudition, total command of American English, and a successful businessman, Muso took an interest in Yorktown University and watched its progress over many years. We corresponded annually and enjoyed meeting one another at meetings of the Philadelphia Society. He will be missed by thousands of freedom lovers who knew him, admired him for his good works and excellent character.

(Russell Kirk)

Thus is the byline for a new blog, called, The Imaginative Conservative.
